The decision comes two days after ABC suspended Moran, the network’s senior national correspondent and an anchor for ABC News Live, over an X post about White House adviser Stephen Miller. In that post, which he lated deleted, Moran referred to Miller as a “world-class hater.”“We are at the end of our agreement with Terry Moran and based on his recent post — which was a clear violation of ABC News policies — we have made the decision to not renew,” an ABC News spokesperson said. “At ABC News, we hold all of our reporters to the highest standards of objectivity, fairness and professionalism, and we remain committed to delivering straightforward, trusted journalism.”In suspending Moran — which happened after White House officials publicly demanded action from the network — ABC News said it “does not condone subjective personal attacks on others.”Moran joined ABC News in 1997 after several years at Court TV. He has covered several presidential campaigns (and interviewed President Donald Trump in the White House in May), 9/11, the Supreme Court and other beats during his time there. He was anchor of the Sunday edition of World News Tonight in 2004 before moving to Nightline, which he co-anchored from 2005-13. He was ABC’s chief foreign correspondent from 2013-18.Prior to the start of Trump’s second term, ABC News paid $15 million to settle a defamation suit brought by Trump over comments made by Good Morning America and This Week anchor George Stephanopoulos about Trump losing a civil sexual-abuse suit to writer E. Jean Carroll.
