Deadline: DirecTV Seals Carriage Deal With Paramount, Adds Nickelodeon Programming To New $20 Kids Bundle

Story from Deadline:

DirecTV has struck a distribution agreement with Paramount Global, adding its Nickelodeon programming to a newly launched $20-a-month kids bundle.

MyKids is the latest of what the distributor calls its Genre Packs, which are more targeted collections of pay-TV channels organized and priced in a way that reflects the current media landscape. MyKids, which features programing from Paramount, Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery, along with independents like BabyFirst TV and LooLooKids TV, joins existing offerings MySports, MyEntertainment, MyNews, and MiEspañol.

For an extra $9.99 a month, MyKids subscribers can add the MyCinema mini package. It includes a library of classic films, romance, and family programming from seven channels, including Smithsonian Channel, Great American Family, Sony Movies, and Turner Classic Movies.

DirecTV Chief Marketing Officer Vince Torres said the initiative is “making it easier for more families to access the content they care about most. It’s about giving families more flexibility, more value, and the confidence that they’re getting the very best for their kids.”

The Paramount carriage deal also fills in a key blank space in MySports, which launched earlier this year without CBS Sports and other Paramount networks. DirecTV battled Disney in 2024 as the companies were hammering out a distribution agreement, insisting on its right as a distributor to slice and dice channels into smaller packages, including a sports-centric one. The ability to offer a sports-focused pay package was at the heart of the legal fight over the ill-starred Venu Sports, a joint venture of Disney, WBD and Fox. Fubo successfully sued the JV, claiming it had behaved as a monopoly by preventing Fubo from making deals to carry only sports. 6-Along with CBS, the $70-a-month MySports package also now includes

CBS owned and operated local stations as well as CBS Sports Network. Those new offerings join ESPN, ESPN2, ACC Network, FS1, Golf Channel, SEC Network, TBS, TNT, truTV, and USA Network. (NBC remains a holdout, not surprisingly given NBCUniversal’s focus on Peacock.)

“DirecTV is a valued partner, and we are pleased to expand our long-standing relationship by featuring our wide array of leading programming in DirecTV’s growing portfolio of Genre Packs,” said Ray Hopkins, President of Paramount U.S. Distribution. “Paramount is committed to exceptional content across broadcast, entertainment, news and sports, and we look forward to continuing to provide additional opportunities for audiences to broadly access and enjoy our fan-favorite programming and brands.”

Rob Thun, Chief Content Officer at DirecTV, added, “Paramount is one of the world’s most influential programmers, and its broad portfolio – including the CBS Network local stations – provides essential channels to many of our different Genre Packs. Together, these combined services create a strong foundation for a more dynamic TV future, one that gives DirecTV subscribers enhanced choice and control through our industry-leading genre-based options.”
