Viaplay Group is to launch a new sports channel for the Nordic market with over 100 hours of sports coverage a week.Viaplay Sport will debut on 27 June and will be available in the Viaplay Medium, Viaplay Total with commercials and Viaplay Total packages. It will also be distributed through our partners Telia, Allente, Telenor and Sappa.“Viaplay Sport will offer sports entertainment for everyone and become the home ground for many of our most beloved national teams,” says Erik Westberg, Head of Sports at Viaplay Group in Sweden.During the launch weekend viewers can enjoy Formula 1 qualifying from Austria and the final of the European Under-21 Football Championship. The European Football Championship, featuring the Swedish Women’s national teams takes place between July 2-27. The autumn and winter schedule also includes cross-country skiing and alpine skiing, the men’s World Cup qualifiers in football, as well as the Women’s Handball World Cup and the Men’s Handball European Championship.“We already offer the strongest portfolio of live sports on the market.
