An agreement with Delta Fiber means Ziggo internet and television will be available almost throughout the Netherlands by 2026. In addition, Vodafone customers in Delta areas will also benefit from additional benefits through the combination of Ziggo and Vodafone services.Stephen van Rooyen, CEO of VodafoneZiggo, said he was delignted with the scheme: “With the collaboration with Delta Fiber, we will serve customers throughout the country and Ziggo’s internet and television will be available to a large group of new households. For VodafoneZiggo’s own network, the approach is unchanged. We continue to invest in our own network. The planned upgrade to DOCSIS 4.0 will provide more capacity and speeds of up to 8 Gbit/s. In this way, we are committed to connecting everyone and everything with what really matters.”The agreement covers the regions of Twente, Westland and Zeeland, but also parts of cities such as Gouda, Schiedam and Aalsmeer.Marco Visser, CEO of DELTA Fiber said the collaboration was fully in line with its own market vision. “We have always been a strong advocate of open networks, where multiple providers use each other’s infrastructure. We see this as a healthy market development that once again emphasises that the construction of double fibre optic networks is not necessary.”The move is seen as an important step in the further opening up of fiber optic networks in the Netherlands. By offering services from multiple parties over one network, the occupancy rate increases and more competition is created on the network. It is important step in VodafoneZiggo’s new strategy, which is aimed at further improving its services to customers with the company focussed on improving the provision of reliable and fast internet throughout the country.
