UHD Spain has offered to provide the necessary technical coordination so that all broadcasters can have access to UHD Spain’s multiple test channel to experiment and develop Ultra High Definition tests.The announcement was made by Víctor Sánchez, Director of Media and Operations at RTVE and President of UHD Spain during conference on the evolution of DTT to Ultra High Definition at the on the RTVE headquarters in Prado del Rey.The infrastructure will be made available to all television operators in Spain, both at national and regional level.“The association offers its support to those who are going to start UHD broadcasts through the new RGE2 network,” said Víctor Sánchez in “an open invitation, with no commercial interests, which only seeks to facilitate the implementation of UHD in Spain.RTVE has carried out multiple technical tests before beginning the transmission of events directly to the public including a number of high-profile sporting events.“Our goal is to continue incorporating more UHD content into our regular broadcasts,” said Sánchez, in his role as RTVE’s Director of Media and Operations. “UHD is the way for DTT to remain a free, competitive and high-quality platform. There are no additional costs for the user, as is the case with pay platforms.”In February 2024, standard definition broadcasts came to an end with transmissions moving to high definition. Spain is using DVB-T2 with multichannel audio in Dolby 5.1.
