A24 has shuttered its documentary division Deadline has learned and also laid off five employees in the department.A24 had no comment.Division head Nicole Stott and Emily Osborne, head of documentary production, will remain at A24 long enough to complete work on ongoing projects. Those projects include André Is an Idiot and Architecton.Some of the docs produced by A24 include The Last of the Sea Women, The Sixth and Morgan Neville’s Steve Martin documentary Steve!.They also produced Amy, which won the 2016 best documentary Oscar, and 2021 Val Kilmer documentary Val. Other non-fiction fare included the design docuseries “Home,” “Stephen Curry: Underrated,” “The Deepest Breath” and Steve McQueen’s “Occupied City.”
