Catholic television channel K-TV will offer its programmes in HD resolution on the Astra satellite system (19.2° East) from 1 January 2025.K-TV-HD can be received unencrypted on the frequency 11.112 GHz H (SR 22.000, FEC 2/3); test broadcasts are already underway.The German-language channel focuses on religious content, including services from various churches, spiritual lectures, prayer sessions, documentaries and programmes on theological and social topics. K-TV has been available in SD resolution on Astra since 2002.“Broadcasting the beauty of faith is our central mission,” said Dr Johannes Hattler, Managing Director of K-TV. “We are therefore all the more pleased to be able to realise a further milestone in quality improvement at the end of our 25th anniversary with the switch to HD via satellite and regional cable networks.”According to K-TV, the parallel SD transmission will be discontinued on 30 June 2025. The channel will then only broadcast in HD.
