Deutsche Telekom continued to expand its TV customer base in Germany during the second quarter of 2025, although at a slower pace than in the same period last year.
The German telco added 23,000 new MagentaTV subscribers, bringing the total to 4.698 million TV customers as of 30 June 2025.
By comparison, Q2 2024 saw a sharp increase of 114,000 TV customers, driven by exceptional one-off factors: MagentaTV’s exclusive coverage of all 51 matches of UEFA Euro 2024 and a regulatory change that decoupled cable TV costs from tenants’ utility bills. These two developments created a unique momentum that is absent in the current market.
In parallel with TV growth, Deutsche Telekom also added 137,000 new fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) customers in the quarter. Its fibre network now passes 11.1 million households across Germany. Despite these gains, the broadband market remained challenging, with Telekom losing 20,000 broadband lines overall in Q2.
The developments came alongside solid financial results for Deutsche Telekom’s domestic business. In Germany, service revenues grew by 1.1% in organic terms, while adjusted EBITDA AL rose by 2.0% year-on-year to €2.6 billion. However, total revenue declined by 1.3% to €6.3 billion, largely due to a drop in handset sales.
Group-wide, Deutsche Telekom delivered strong quarterly figures, with organic revenue up 4.0% to €28.7 billion, and adjusted EBITDA AL rising 5.0% to €11.0 billion. Net profit increased by more than 25% to €2.6 billion, underlining the Group’s earnings momentum.
Given the solid performance, the company raised its full-year guidance for the second time in 2025. It now expects adjusted EBITDA AL of over €45.0 billion and free cash flow AL of more than €20.0 billion for the full year.
“We are again seeing sustained strong growth on both sides of the Atlantic throughout the second quarter,” said CEO Tim Höttges. “Deutsche Telekom continues to set the pace in the industry.”
