From September 1st, Vodafone Spain’s pay-TV subscribers will lose access to seven channels distributed in Spain by SkyShowtime. The lineup includes Calle 13, SYFY and Comedy Central – three of the country’s most popular thematic pay-TV networks – as well as MTV, Nick, Nick Jr, and DreamWorks.The move follows a breakdown in negotiations between Vodafone Spain and the distributor of NBCUniversal International Networks & Paramount channels. Despite the blackout, these channels will remain available on other platforms in Spain such as Movistar Plus+, Orange TV, Euskaltel, R, Telecable, Jazztel and Digi.SkyShowtime, a joint venture between Comcast and Paramount, operates across 22 European markets. In Spain, the company not only offers its streaming service but also distributes the linear channels from NBCUniversal International Networks and Paramount – the very ones now being pulled from Vodafone’s lineup.
