Disney+ and Nordisk Film, part of the Egmont Group, have announced a multi-year agreement that will make Disney+ the exclusive first streaming home for local theatrical releases in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland beginning in 2026.The deal covers approximately 90 feature films over the term, with Disney+ gaining first-window rights following each film’s theatrical and digital rental run. The partnership marks a significant expansion of Disney+’s local content strategy in the Nordic region.Hans van Rijn, SVP and Country Manager for The Walt Disney Company Nordic & Baltic, emphasized the importance of local content: “Expanding our relationship with Nordisk Film allows us to offer a strong slate of Nordic blockbusters to our subscribers, alongside global titles and live sports—all included in the subscription.”Kenneth Wiberg, SVP of Nordisk Film and CEO of Nordisk Film Distribution, added: “Local films are central to our mission. This agreement with Disney+ ensures our productions reach the widest possible audience across the Nordics.”The deal includes all Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish theatrical releases starting in 2026, and the majority of Finnish releases beginning in 2027.
