Two well-known UK indies will become one as All3Media’s Objective Media Group consolidates Triple Brew and Betty into a new, as-yet-unnamed single label, Deadline has learned.The restructure of Objective’s unscripted business means the prodcos’ combined slate, including the likes of The Cube, Lingo, Wheeler Dealers and Bear Grylls series Bear’s Mission With…, will be housed under one roof, with the well-known Betty and Triple Brew labels ceasing to exist. The rejig will mean job losses, we hear.Objective houses a cluster of indie labels spanning scripted, factual and entertainment. It is one of the UK’s best-known production groups with several bases across the UK and an office in LA. It is owned by All3Media, which is in the throes of being acquired by RedBird IMI in a $1.45B deal.Quiz and gameshow-focused Triple Brew Media was formed in 2019. It is led by Ben Shephard, also a popular on-screen presenter in the UK, and Becca Walker and Ed De Burgh. The producer makes shows including Lingo and The Cube, as well as Alan Carr-hosted gameshow Picture Slam, which was recently recommissioned by BBC One. The new season of the US version of Lingo, hosted by Rupaul Charles, bows later this month on CBS.All3Media acquired Betty TV from its then co-parent Discovery in 2017. The indie has made shows such as Wheeler Dealers, The Undateables, Bear’s Mission With… and several programs with celebrities including Fred Sirieix and Italian chef Gino D’Acampo. It is headed by David Harrison and Helen Cooke.Objective has been part of All3Media since 2007. A spokesperson confirmed the Betty and Triple Brew news and issued a very brief statement to Deadline. “We are undergoing a strategic restructure across our unscripted labels.”Both Betty and Triple brew are established labels within the Objective group. News that they will have their slates combined and will no longer function as standalone producers comes as the UK production sector endures challenging times. Channels are reining in spending, the streamer spending boom has cooled, and commissions are harder to come by. Several Indies, including I Wanna Marry Harry maker Zig Zag Productions, have been forced to take drastic measures to survive and many remain threatened.
