Sundance Now has picked up Domino Day, the BBC YA drama about a young witch with extraordinary powers in modern-day England.Following its UK launch on BBC Three earlier this year and a strong critical showing, Domino Day will premiere in the U.S. this summer on Sundance Now and AMC+.Set and filmed in Manchester, UK, the supernatural six-parter stars the BAFTA–nominated Siena Kelly (Adult Material, Hit & Run) as Domino Day, a young woman on all the dating apps. A young witch with extraordinary powers, Domino is desperately seeking a community who can help her understand who she is, but she doesn’t need to look far as a coven of witches is already tracking her every move, convinced they have to stop her before her powers destroy everyone and everything around her.“Domino Day was destined for Sundance Now,” said Shannon Cooper, VP, Programming, Sundance Now. “With our audience’s deep love of wildly popular series such as A Discovery of Witches and our recent successful coven drama, Sanctuary: A Witch’s Tale, Domino Day is in perfect company.”Other UK series on Sundance Now include the likes of The Long Shadow and The Fall. 6-Domino Day is produced by Fremantle-owned The Responder indie Dancing Ledge and penned by up-and-coming scribe Lauren Sequeira. Opposite Kelly, cast includes Babirye Bukilwa as Sammie, Poppy Lee Friar as Geri, Alisha Bailey as Kat, Molly Harris as Jules, Sam Howard Sneyd as Silas and Percelle Ascott as Leon. The series also stars Lucy Cohu, Christopher Jeffers and Jonah Rzeskiewicz.Individual episodes are written by Charlene James (A Discovery of Witches, The Rising) and Haleema Mirza (Secret Invasion). The series is directed by Eva Sigurdardottir (Good Night, Rainbow Party) and Nadira Amrani (Extraordinary, On The Edge), with Nick Pitt as producer. Executive producers are Sequeira with Laurence Bowen, Chris Carey and Elinor Day for Dancing Ledge and Lucy Richer and Ayela Butt for the BBC. Fremantle sells worldwide. The deal was brokered by Fremantle’s Shirley Bowers, SVP of U.S. Distribution, with Sundance’s Cooper.
