Deadline: Brian Weinstein Named 3 Arts Entertainment Co-CEO & Senior Advisor To Lionsgate CEO Office

Story from Deadline:

Brian Weinstein is leaving Bad Robot as their President and COO and heading over to Lionsgate in what is a dual role: He’ll be the Co-CEO of the studio’s majority owned 3 Arts Entertainment, while serving as a Senior Advisor to Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer.

Weinstein joins 3 Arts’ leadership team, led by CEO Michael Rotenberg, in managing the firm’s operations and extending their capabilities into synergistic new areas that will benefit its client roster.

In Weinstein’s role as Senior Advisor to the Office of the CEO, he will also work closely with Feltheimer and the studio’s exec team to help spearhead growth initiatives for its other verticals.

“Brian is an entrepreneurial executive with the background and skills to work with 3 Arts leadership in continuing their company’s dynamic growth,” said Feltheimer. “3 Arts is an integral part of our talent strategy and a driver of content creation. Their unique combination of talent management and production expertise puts them at the forefront of capitalizing on opportunities for the talent business. I also want to welcome Brian to the Lionsgate team in his capacity as Senior Advisor.”

“As our industry continues to evolve, we are always looking to bring more creative opportunities to our clients that keep them a step ahead,” said the 3 Arts partners. “Brian’s focus and accomplishments at Bad Robot and CAA make him a perfect fit to help guide us in continuing to grow the business in areas of proven strength.”

“The partners at 3 Arts have built a world-class management firm positioned to diversify and capitalize on our industry’s current disruption,” said Weinstein. “At Lionsgate, I can’t wait to help the company continue to navigate the evolving media landscape and to contribute to its highly entrepreneurial culture, commitment to excellence and spirit of innovation.”

At J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot, Weinstein was part of the company’s expansion, shepherding its strategic Warner Bros’ partnership and spearheading the launch and growth of a portfolio of new businesses including video games, animation, docuseries, live theatrical, podcasting, music and consumer.

Deadline is told that Weinstein’s exit from Bad Robot was amicable and that the exec’s contract was up. Bad Robot is very focused on its creative endeavors with current leadership Katie McGrath as co-CEO, Hannah Minghella as Head of Motion Pictures, Rachel Rusch Rich as President of TV and Grace Del Val as General Counsel & Head of Business Affairs. Prior to Bad Robot, Weinstein was Head of Global Client Strategy at CAA, where he generated revenue and oversaw business development in all areas for its most prolific and entrepreneurial clients. Prior to that, he was a corporate associate at the law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate Meagher & Flom.

Weinstein holds a B.A. from Yale University and a J.D. degree from Columbia Law School.
