Broadband TV News: RTÉ to sell GAAGO share to GAA

Story from Broadband TV News:

Ireland’s public broadcaster is expected to sell its share in streaming service GAAGO to the GAA within the next few weeks.

According to the Irish Examiner, negotiations have been taking place since the amateur sports body offered to buy out RTE’s share last month.

It follows the decision last August by the GAA to offer an eight-match package comprising Saturday games abda six game pack that includes two All-Ireland senior football quarter-finals.

Once an agreement with RTE is forthcoming, the GAA is expected to reveal its streaming schedule, normally made public in December.

One possibility is that GAAGO, which drew €5 million in subscription revenues during 2023, might go through a rebrand following RTE’s departure from the venture.
