Broadband TV News: DAZN France permanently reduces subscription pricing

Story from Broadband TV News:

The main broadcaster of top-flight football in France is to radically change its pricing model.

When DAZN took on the rights to broadcast Ligue 1 in its domestic market at the beginning of the 2024/25 season, DAZN priced its package at €30 per month, but instantly came in for criticism from football fans for the unprecedented fees.

The result was historically low audience figures, leading DAZN which has the rights to 8 out of 9 weekly matches to change direction.

In an interview with The Parisian, DAZN France boss Brice Daumin said the new lower level would be maintained from the start of the new season, while those under 26 will pay just €10.

There is is also a “mid-season pass”. €69 until the end of the 2024-2025 season.

On screen, a new weekly magazine will be introduced on Monday evenings, featuring “in-depth analysis, behind-the-scenes content, and player interviews”.
