Warner Bros. Discovery’s Chief Legal Officer Savalle Sims, a longtime member of David Zaslav‘s corporate inner circle, is leaving the media giant. The sudden news of the forthcoming departure of the company’s legal chief was unveiled by CEO Zaslav in a note to staff that was sent out in the past hour. As the missive states, Sims will continue at Warner Bros Discovery over a transition period as a replacement is sought and hired. No word yet on where Sims might land or resurface. However, Deadline understand that Sim’s exit is unrelated to the turmoil the company finds itself in with lawsuits with the NBA over TV rights and the courts hitting the pause button on Venu Sports, the sports streamer that Warner Bros Discovery was in business with Disney and Fox on.With Discovery since 2011 and running the company’s Litigation and Trademark legal teams, Sims was a key player in the mega-merger that created Warner Bros Discovery in April 2022. Since then, while low-key by Hollywood C-Suite standards, Syracuse University and Notre Dame Law School grad Sims has been a steady confidante to fellow lawyer Zaslav in the rocky times and stock lows of the past two years.
