Broadband TV News: Vodafone and RTL Deutschland renew cable carriage

Story from Broadband TV News:

Vodafone Deutschland’s 11 million cable customers will continue to be able to receive RTL Deutschland’s streaming and TV services.

The media company and the telecommunications group have renewed their partnership, which is to be expanded in the future.

In addition to the RTL+ streaming app, the agreement also covers RTL Deutschland’s nine free-TV and four pay-TV channels, which will continue to be distributed by Vodafone. These are the free-TV services RTL, VOX, Nitro, ntv, Super RTL, RTLup, RTLzwei, VOXup and Toggo plus as well as the pay-TV channels RTL Crime, RTL Living, GEO Television and VOD service GEO WILD.

“We are pleased to continue our long-standing collaboration with RTL Deutschland. It’s a win-win situation for both sides: our TV customers will continue to have access to RTL’s attractive entertainment offerings. And they benefit from cloud-based recording options and other add-on features on GigaTV. At the same time, RTL can utilise access to millions of cable households and develop new TV offerings with us,” said Marc Albers, acting Head of Residential Customers at Vodafone.

Andre Prahl, Chief Distribution Officer at RTL Deutschland, added: “We are delighted to further expand and extend our good partnership with Vodafone. The comprehensive agreement secures Vodafone customers access to RTL Deutschland’s wide range of content and popular brands. At the same time, the agreement is an important step towards expanding the reach of our streaming service RTL+ while at the same time securing the linear distribution of our TV channels. Together with Vodafone, we will continue to develop new TV offerings and products for the benefit of users.”
