MultiChoice Nigeria is free to introduce price increases after a lawyer was forced to withdraw the case he had brought against the pay-TV platform.In May consumer rights lawyer Festus Onifade brought the case against MultiChoice after planned increases to its DStv and GOtv subscriptions. Onifade argued that MultiChoice had failed to give the enquired one-months’ notice of the changes.The Tribunal had fined MultiChoice Nigeria N150 million and ordered MultiChoice to give Nigerians a month’s free subscription in compensation. MultiChoice appealed against the fine and the case was scheduled to be heard in November.Onifade is said to have been concerned that MultiChoice would use the time to appeal and overturn the court’s original decision.
