Broadband TV News: Icelandic partnership between Síminn and HBO

Story from Broadband TV News:

Síminn is to be a partner of Warner Bros. Discovery in Iceland under a new agreement.

Subscribers to the Icelandic telco will be able to access selected HBO content as part of Síminn’s premium offer as well as full access to the HBO app.

The agreement represents one of Síminn’s largest content acquisition agreements to date. “This is a historic agreement and it is extremely pleasing that Warner Bros. Discovery has chosen to work with Síminn in Iceland, but we are building on a solid foundation of collaboration over the past few years,” says María Björk Einarsdóttir, CEO of Síminn.

“The partnership is in line with international developments where telecommunications companies and streaming services are increasingly joining forces to create more value for customers, who primarily want convenience and access to all their content in one place.”

“The launch of HBO Max in Iceland is an important milestone for us in the Nordics. It reflects our ambition to make world-class entertainment accessible to more and more people. We are particularly pleased to work with a strong partner like Síminn, who shares our focus on high-quality content. Icelandic viewers can look forward to enjoying a high-quality streaming service that combines content from HBO, Warner Bros. Pictures, Discovery, Eurosport and more,” adds Christina Sulebakk, Managing Director of Warner Bros. Discovery in the Nordics.
