Broadband TV News: Arcom intervenes to stop retransmission of Russian channels

Story from Broadband TV News:

The French media regulator is to block and delist 19 official Russian media sites subject to direct or indirect sanctions.

Arcom will also give formal notice to one Russian streaming site and three Russian online platforms to stop broadcasting content from sanctioned Russian media.

Since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, Arcom has stopped broadcasting several Russian channels in accordance with French law or European sanctions.

It’s using the same powers used recently to give formal notice to Eutelsat to cease broadcasting two Russian channels controlled by a company whose economic resources had been frozen under European law.

Arcom said it will continue to use all the means at its disposal to stop the distribution in France of Russian media targeted by European sanctions, as well as the resumption of their content by online platforms accessible in France.
