We can tell you first that Jon M. Chu and his Electric Somewhere Co. have closed a first-look feature film deal at Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group.The $1.4 billion-grossing filmmaker has had a long history with the Burbank, CA lot including the Golden Globe nominated movies Crazy Rich Asians and In the Heights. He’s currently developing the feature take of Dr. Seuss’ Oh, The Places You’ll Go! for Warner Bros Pictures Animation, Dr. Seuss Enterprises and Bad Robot producing.Co-Chairs and CEOs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy exclaimed, “The depth of Jon’s talent is boundless – from comedies and musicals to action and animation, he is a master storyteller across countless genres. A musical stage adaptation of the hit movie is currently in the works with Chu and Warner Bros. Theater Ventures. Next up for Chu is Universal’s feature take of the Broadway musical, Wicked, which will be released in two parts: On Nov. 27, 2024 and Nov. 26, 2025.Chu is represented by Artists First, UTA, Allison Binder, Esq of GGSSC and ID.Earlier this month, it was announced that the De Luca and Abdy-run Warner Motion Pictures Group forged a new strategic partnership with Tom Cruise who’ll have an office on the lot.
