Variety: Sony Pictures TV Promotes Mike Wald, Jason Spivak to Co-Presidents of Distribution and Networks

Sony Pictures Television has upped Mike Wald and Jason Spivak to co-presidents of distribution and networks.

Together, Wald and Spivak will take over the role previously held by Keith Le Goy, who was promoted to Sony Pictures Television chairman in January. In their new positions, they will continue to report to Le Goy.

Wald and Spivak will co-lead the studio’s combined television and home entertainment distribution businesses. Their purview will include overseeing post-theatrical distribution of films, global distribution of TV series, multi-channel marketing and international cable networks in Latin America and Europe.

Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) library of key TV series includes “Seinfeld,” “Outlander,” “Shark Tank,” “Married…with Children,” “The Nanny,” “S.W.A.T.,” “Breaking Bad,” “Better Call Saul,” “Doc,” “Red Eye,” and the upcoming “The Narrow Road to the Deep North.” On the film side, top titles include “Anyone But You,” “The Woman King,” “Bullet Train,” the “Jumanji” and “Spider-Man” franchises, “Venom,” and “Men in Black.”

Most recently, Wald was head of international distribution and content strategy, overseeing all international distribution for Sony’s TV series and feature films across all platforms. Spivak is being promoted from co-lead of Sony’s North American distribution group, which manages post-theatrical distribution of features and episodic programming in the region.
