Broadband TV News: MediaForEurope to withdraw from TVN bid

Story from Broadband TV News:

MediaForEurope is expected to drop out of the race for Polish broadcaster TVN.

Reuters, which spoke with two sources to confirm the story, said the Berlusconi controlled company would instead to look to other potential acquisitions.

It’s understood MediaForEurope (the former Mediaset) had posted a preliminary bid for the leading commercial broadcaster last month.

This leaves Polish businessman Michal Solowow and WP Holding as the most likely candidates to take control of the channel group.

Last December, TVN was one of several media and telecommunication firms added to its list of strategic companies, meaning that a takeover would not be possible without the consent of the Polish government.
