'Have I Got News for You, CNN‘s American adaptation of the long-running BBC comedy panel series, has been renewed for a second season, the network said Thursday. The decision comes ahead of the show’s Season 1 finale this Saturday.Season 2 will air early next year as part of CNN’s Saturday primetime lineup. Produced by Hat Trick Productions for CNN Originals, the show aims to serve up a smart and edgy take on the news of the week, as a comic trio led by host Roy Wood Jr. guides a rotating collection of guests through an array of comic games and quick-witted panel conversations that test their knowledge of current events.Mainstays appearing alongside Wood are team captains Amber Ruffin and Michael Ian Black. Have I Got News for You‘s 10-episode freshman season premiered September 13 and joined CNN’s encore presentation of Real Time with Bill Maher as part of the network’s revitalized Saturday primetime offering, marking CNN’s investment into topical entertainment programming.Notable Season 1 guests included Robin Thede, Andy Richter, Mark McKinnon, Ana Navarro, Larry Wilmore, Adam Kinzinger, Anthony Scaramucci, Bomani Jones, Rep. Tim Burchett and more.
