RTÉ News: RTÉ Director of Content Jennings to leave organisation

Story from RTÉ News:

RTÉ has announced that its Director of Content Jim Jennings is leaving the organisation.

In an internal update to staff, Director General Kevin Bakhurst said Mr Jennings will depart at the end of this month.

Mr Bakhurst said that an agreement had been reached around the terms of Mr Jennings' departure "with the support of the Workplace Relations Commission".

A spokesperson for RTÉ subsequently said that part of the process of settlements brokered by the WRC includes that the terms remain confidential.

Mr Jennings was a member of the executive board of RTÉ up to last year when the payments controversy at the organisation first began.

He has been on leave for health reasons since around that time.

Mr Jennings was not on the Interim Leadership Team which Mr Bakhurst put in place after he took up his position as Director General.

"I would like to thank Jim for his long service to RTÉ and his great contribution to the organisation and public service media for almost 40 years," Mr Bakhurst said.

"Jim joined RTÉ in 1985 as a researcher and subsequently worked as a television producer/director before becoming Head of Radio 1. He took up the role of Director of Content in 2017."

"Jim leaves at a time when the organisation is re-defining the Audio and Visual briefs as part of RTÉ's new Strategy."

RTÉ recently announced the appointment of two people to roles as Director of Video and Director of Audio.
