Broadband TV News: Sýn bags Premier League rights

Story from Broadband TV News:

Sýn has secured the broadcast rights to the English Premier League from 2025/26 to the 2027/28 season.

With a few gaps, the Sýn-owned Stöð 2 Sport has been the home of English football since 1997.

“By securing the rights to the English football, an important milestone has been reached, and we intend to handle this project with the great ambition and passion that characterizes Stöð 2 Sport. With this acquisition, we see great opportunities for the company Sýn as a whole,” says Herdís Dröfn Fjeldsted, CEO of Sýn.

“We at Stöð 2 Sport are thrilled to have regained the English football. We look forward to covering the world’s strongest league as well as possible with our talented people and allowing the entire nation to enjoy sitting in the best seat with us on Stöð 2 Sport,” adds Eiríkur Stefán Ásgeirsson, head of Sýn’s sports department.

Sýn was formed from the merger of Vodafone Iceland and the former 365 broadcast media.
