As Deadline revealed in January, Vuong was named interim head of unscripted at the network following the departure of Corie Henson.Vuong has now got the job permanently as head of unscripted at NBC with the title EVP, Unscripted Programming, NBC.It comes as the network is gearing up to launch its next big entertainment format – Destination X – next month.She will report to Pearlena Igbokwe, Chairman, Television Studios, NBC Entertainment and Peacock Scripted.Vuong will lead the team that oversees series such as America’s Got Talent and The Voice.She will work closely with Rachel Smith, who is EVP, Unscripted Content, Lifestyle & Documentaries, who worked alongside Henson on the lifestyle and reality side of the business. Smith reports to Frances Berwick, who was named Chairman, Bravo and Peacock Unscripted in the company’s restructure earlier this year.As one source told Deadline the easiest way to delineate the two teams is that the team that Vuong is now leading deals in cash prizes, where Smith’s team doesn’t (unless you count love as a prize).Vuong joined NBC in May 2020. She has spearheaded development and current on unscripted formats including reality competition, talent competition, and game shows across NBCU’s Entertainment portfolio, which to date has included NBC, Peacock and the cable networks, although some of this will change with SpinCo taking on cable nets such as E! and USA Network.She is also responsible for bringing in two of NBCU’s most successful streaming formats in The Traitors and Love Island. The Traitors, hosted by Alan Cumming, is currently in its third season and has already been renewed through season five. Love Island, meanwhile, aired its sixth season last summer and has a number of spinoffs.The team also includes Jenny Ramirez, who is SVP, Entertainment Unscripted Alternative Programming, Shelby Shaftel, who is SVP, Unscripted Series and Development, Kristina Edwards, who is VP, Current Series and Development and Merrill Hendrickson, VP, Unscripted Series.Vuong joined from CBS, where she was SVP, Alternative Programming and worked on series including Survivor, The Amazing Race, Big Brother and Undercover Boss.
