Broadband TV News: Peacock at 30m paid subscribers; no international expansion

Story from Broadband TV News:

Comcast’s streaming service Peacock has now reached 30 million paid subscribers on an ARPU of approximately $10.

The data was revealed by Comcast CEO Mike Cavanagh during the UBS Global Media and Communications conference on Monday.

Cavanagh also said that he expected the $2.8 billion loss for 2023 to be the high watermark for the platform.

The business was focussed on growing domestically and not currently looking outside of the United States.

“I think for us, that’s not the ambition, we’ll figure out how to make sure our international joint ventures and partnerships and the like solve the problem of what it means not to have a global service of our own, and that can change over time, he said.

Peacock is available on the Sky platform, though in a stripped back version, even when compared to when it made its UK launch in November 2021. Typically, NBC/Comcast content will make its way to another Comcast venture, SkyShowtime, in partnership with Paramount Global.
