Matt Stagg, BT Sports director of mobile and immersive is stepping down from his role and departing Warner Bros. Discovery.Stagg has over 25 years’ experience in telecoms, media and entertainment, he joined Warner Bros. Discovery following its merge with BT Sports in September last year.Prior to this, BT Sports appointed Stagg in 2018 where was responsible for developing the pay TV broadcaster’s mobile capabilities and and long term mobile strategy. He was also key in developing the technology strategy for the Broadcast, Media & Entertainment over 4G / LTE-B & 5G.He also previously served as EE mobile video and content chief where he oversaw EE’s strategy for delivering 4G and 5G networks for the media and broadcast industries. The exec is also the founder and chairman of the Mobile Video Alliance and co-founder of the LTE-Broadcast Global Alliance.Stagg leaves ahead of the TNT Sports relaunch which will become the new name for BT Sport in the UK & Ireland from July 2023.Commenting on his departure on LinkedIn, Stagg said, “After an incredible five years at BT Sport / Warner Bros. Discovery, I am excited to pursue new opportunities in immersive sports broadcasting. There are too many people to thank, but I have to shout out Jamie Hindhaugh who shared my vision for mobile and immersive technology in sports broadcasting and brought me over from EE. I will miss the BT Sport team immensely, but its a small industry so I’m sure we will work together in the future.”
