Warner Bros. Discovery-backed streaming service discovery+ has hiked prices for its ad-free monthly subscription in the US from $6.99 to $8.99.The ad-lite subscription for the streaming platform which houses factual programming, is to remain the same at the monthly rate of USD $4.99 in the US.The Ad-Free plan allows customers to stream shows without advertisement and the ad-lite package is the service’s cheaper tier providing access to the streamer’s content with advertising.Customers in Canada will also see a price increase for the Discovery+ ad-free monthly subscription from $6.99 CAD to $8.99 CAD. With the price of a new discovery+ ad-lite subscription to go up from CAD $4.99 to $5.99.Discovery+’s library of non-scripted content includes original series across lifestyle and relationships; home and food; true crime; paranormal; adventure and natural history; as well as science, tech and the environment.Existing subscribers will see their monthly rate increase on their next billing cycle on or after November 2, the company revealed.The price increases mark the first-time discovery+ has raised the price of its monthly subscription since launching in the US in January 2021 and later in Canada in October. However, the streamer introduced a price jump in the UK from GBP £4.99 per month to £6.99 per month, when launching its ad-lite offering in the region last year.
