The private equity firm Hotstar are reportedly held talks with Disney about taking a stake in its Indian streaming operation Hotstar.Quoting sources familiar with the matter, Reuters says that the talks were held last week and led by the Blackstone-backed US media company Candle Media, which was founded by former Disney executives.It adds that the talks were first reported by the Indian newspaper The Economic Times and that Bloomberg has previously reported talks between Disney and the Indian billionaires Guatam Adani and Kalanithi Maran.Broadband TV News notes that according to The Economic Times the talks could also involve the acquisition of specific rights, such as sports properties and media rights, as well as a stake in Hotstar.
