Daily Mail: James Gunn reveals he's unveiled 'less than half' of DC Studios slate

Story from Daily Mail:

It's been just over a month since James Gunn unveiled his DC Studios slate, and it seems there is much more in store to be unveiled.

Gunn, 56, and his partner Peter Safran, 57, were announced as the new heads of DC Studios in late October, with Gunn promising to unveil his first slate of projects by February 1.

True to his word, the Guardians of the Galaxy filmmaker unveiled the first projects on January 31, which including Superman: Legacy, Booster Gold, The Brave and the Bold and more.

Gunn unveiled 10 projects that will be part of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), along with a sequel to The Batman starring Robert Pattinson, one of the studio's Elseworld projects set outside of the DCEU.

While no further projects have been announced since then, Gunn teased there is much more in the works, when responding to a fan on Twitter.

As Gunn continues to map out the future of the DCEU, he is also putting his finishing touches on his seemingly final Marvel Studios movie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

The filmmaker took to Twitter on Monday, sharing an image of the new villain High Evolutionary, played by Chukwudi Iwuji, adding, 'Can’t wait for you all to meet this guy.'

One fan, replied, 'About how much of the Chapter 1 slate did you tell us about?' Gunn responded, 'Less than half.'

Chapter 1 of his slate - dubbed Gods and Monsters - begins with Creature Commandos, an animated series already in production, and a live-action series Waller, following Viola Davis' Amanda Waller.

The first movie in the slate is Superman: Legacy, slated for release on July 11, 2025, which Gunn has written and will follow, 'Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing.'

The next project is a TV series dubbed Lanterns, following multiple Green Lantern characters that is said to be similar to True Detective.

Next up is a movie dubbed The Authority, following an ensemble of superheroes with extreme methods.

The series Paradise Lost will be set on the island of Themyscira, where the iconic hero Wonder Woman was born.

The next project will be The Brave and the Bold, a new Batman movie featuring Bruce Wayne's son with supervillain Talia al-Ghul as Robin, which won't feature Robert Pattinson as Batman.

The TV series Booster Gold will follow, as Safran explained, 'a loser from the future who uses basic future technology to come back to today and pretend to be a superhero,' as Gunn added, 'imposter syndrome as superhero.'

The movie project Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is said to feature a, 'much more hardcore' Supergirl than has been portrayed in the past.

The horror film Swamp Thing will delve into the origins of the creature and close out the first part of Chapter 1.

Of course, Gunn didn't offer any indications about what other projects would be part of Chapter 1, or when the other half of the slate would be announced.

Gunn did reveal that he was working with a group of writers to craft this slate, which including Drew Goddard (The Martian), Christina Hodson (The Flash), Jeremy Slater (Moon Knight), Christal Henry (Watchmen) and legendary DC Comics writer Tom King.

There are still four more movies from the previous regime at DC Films - which was ultimately rebranded to the current DC Studios - ran by Walter Hamada.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods will be the first of these projects, hitting theaters March 17, with The Flash starring embattled Ezra Miller on June 16, with Gunn calling The Flash, 'probably one of the greatest superhero movies ever made.'

Also slated for release this year is Blue Beetle on August 18 and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom on Christmas Day.
