Broadband TV News: HGTV secures Polish licence extension

Story from Broadband TV News:

Poland’s National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) has granted the satellite channel HGTV, which is distributed by TVN Warner Bros. Discovery, a 10-year licence extension.

At the same time, the regulator has also said it is continuing to investigate the ownership structure of TVN, which since April 2022 has been owned by the US’s Warner Bros. Discovery following the merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery. The decision to grant the licence received four votes in favour and one against.

In a separate development, KRRiT has also granted Telewizja Media Narodowe a licence to operate a channel named TVMN.

The channel will be on air for 24 hours daily and offer journalistic programming.

It will be distributed by selected telecom networks in four locations around Poland including the city of Szczecin.
